Founded

Originally inhabited by the Calusa people, the area saw European exploration in the 16th century. Naples was established in the late 1880s and incorporated as a city in 1949. Its name was inspired by the Italian city, reflecting the area’s mild climate and abundant fish, reminiscent of Naples, Italy.
