Palm Beach Gardens is a vibrant city in Palm Beach County, Florida—about 80 miles north of Miami and 12 miles north of West Palm Beach.


It spans approximately 58.7 square miles

Founded

Palm Beach Gardens was founded in 1959 by insurance magnate John D. MacArthur, who acquired roughly 4,000 acres of dairy land with the vision of creating a “garden city” where streets were lined with trees and flowers, embodying the American dream.
He originally intended to name it “Palm Beach City,” but the name was denied, so it became Palm Beach Gardens.
Early growth was swift: from just over 1,800 residents by about 1960, to over 6,000 by 1970, and over 14,000 by 1980.
