Located in central Broward County, in southeast Florida, Wilton Manors is surrounded by the North and South Forks of the Middle River, just north of Fort Lauderdale.

Founded
Wilton Manors was originally settled in the early 20th century, when the area was mostly farmland and undeveloped swampland along the Middle River. In the 1920s, developer N.E. Wilton purchased land in the area and began promoting it as “Wilton Manors,” giving the community its name. At that time, the region was sparsely populated and primarily served as a residential suburb of Fort Lauderdale.
Following World War II, South Florida experienced a population boom, and Wilton Manors grew from a small farming and residential settlement into a thriving community. In 1947, the town officially incorporated as the City of Wilton Manors, establishing its government and civic identity.
Over the decades, the city transformed from a quiet neighborhood into a dynamic cultural hub, known today for its inclusivity, waterways, and vibrant entertainment scene along Wilton Drive.
